Affirmation - Here's One to Use
Friday, April 16, 2010 at 09:07AM My mother was a firm believer in moving in faith. When she prayed, she didn’t ask for things or help. She thanked her creator for blessing her and giving what was needed. She did this as though it had already happened and she thanked Him accordingly.
She always thought that rather than wait til everything lined up, she would move as though things were already falling into place. Now this can be risky, but this has been my mainstay my entire life.

And it evolved into the idea of affirmation. You speak something into being, not unlike Genesis. First there is the word. When you curse or condemn something or someone, you are creating, I believe, a vortex of negativity around you.
That negativity seems to draw more negativity to it until you can barely move for all the resistance you seem to be getting.
So what I’m offering today, the day after getting WHACKED by the IRS, is an affirmation prayer that I developed years ago and try to use every single day.
Needless to say, I’m only human and have my rage, condemnation and temporary residence in the land of the a-holes…but I try, you know?
For those of you who are not of this orientation, you could stop reading now, but I promise this thing really helps.
In any event, here is the affirmation/prayer/mantra that I use. You may substitute any of your own mythology where appropriate (God, Higher Power, the Higher Power’s Sexual Orientation, the Universe, A guy names Bob…whatever). But I speak it thusly:
Heavenly Father
Thank you for charging my perfect body with cosmic healing energy
Thank you for charging my mind with conscious realization
Thank you for charging my heart with unconditional love
Thank you for opening the way for the divine to design to manifest itself in my life
Thank you for letting the genius within me be released
Thank you for helping me to see and be a part of the perfect plan
Thank you for all the gifts you have given me and the opportunities you continue to give me to share these gifts for your greater glory
Thank you for my perfect marriage and the perfect joy it brings
Thank you Father for divine order
Now you can add anything you like to this, (thank you father for putting the hair back on the top of my head, etc), but voicing this every morning when you awaken and every night before you fall asleep will change your life. I swear.
You can also use it when things seem to be going crazy, bad, falling out of place, whatever. Instead of raging and cursing God (something I have done all to frequently) you repeat this litany. See what happens.
One other thought. I wrote this affirmation in 1978 when I was living in Santa Cruz, and I’ve tried to say it every day. After only twenty years of saying it I realized that I was only affirming for myself, which is where it has to start, I guess, but…
I have now changed the prayer to include all of us, so I no longer say thank you for my… I say thank you for OUR. I have changed everything to include all of us. Seems like things would work out better if we all were blessed in that way, don’t’ you think?
Okay, Monday we will go back to tips on mixing, as that’s where I am right now with this latest CD, Backstage At The Resurrection.

You're right. Words have meaning, words have power, words have life, and words repeated have a cumulative effect that can work for good or ill. So why not harness those things to make life more pleasant and fulfilling? It's not really all that hard.
Personally, I'm with Emily Dickinson on this subject:
A WORD is dead
When it is said,
Some say.
I say it just
Begins to live
That day.
(Sorry...I was feeling "literary" <G>)
